We are looking for a full-time Managing Editor to join us in our Stamford, Connecticut headquarters.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the editorial production process for DWR’s monthly catalogs and mailers. Specific responsibilities include:
• Proofread the book in its entirety on Proof 1, Proof 2 and Confirming Proof.
• Edit copy for grammar, style and content.
• Compile proof corrections from various departments into a master proof.
• Check in corrections made by the production artist, ensuring accuracy of proper names, registered marks, page numbers and page references.
• Enforce consistent use of DWR style.
• Update the copy archive to reflect all edits made during the proofing process, and maintain history of all copy revisions to each book throughout its production cycle.
• Work with the merchandising team to ensure timely receipt of product information.
• Manage critical dates for new product launches.
Other responsibilities include:
--Ensuring that copy for new products and any changes to existing products are provided to our web team on a timely basis.
--Managing the production schedule for launching new products online.
--Managing the delivery of social media content to the appropriate channels (our blog, facebook page, yelp, etc.)
--Managing the schedule for Studio Event emails, ensuring accuracy of information and writing and/or editing weekly email copy.
--Editing existing online content for accuracy and DWR voice.
--Depending on experience, this position could also include writing product descriptions and promotional materials as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience managing editorial production for a catalog or magazine, preferably in a furniture or design related industry.
• Excellent editing, writing and proofreading skills.
• Passion for design history and current design issues.
• Extremely high quality standards for all projects.
• An ability to prioritize time among multiple concurrent projects.
• An ability to handle tight deadlines that often change last minute.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, must be willing to work within a team and with team members.
• Knowledge of MS Office products and gmail.
• Experience with Quark and/or InDesign.
• Experience with content management tools a plus.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required.
