Women of Influence Student Writing Contest (Canada)

Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) are pleased to announce the inaugural OUA Women of Influence contest for female high school student-athletes across Ontario.

The contest will ask female athletes currently enrolled in high school across Ontario to write about the importance of continuing their athletic experience at an Ontario university. Entries must be kept to a 500-word maximum and can be submitted by visiting http://www.oua.ca/student/womenofinfluence/ Entries must be received no later than 5:00pm on Friday February 18, 2011. Winners will be announced on Monday February 21, 2011.

OUA and CAAWS will select two winners who will receive two tickets each to the Women of Influence luncheon on March 2, 2011.

Female athletes enrolled in an Ontario high school are invited to submit their entry about why they think it is important to continue playing sports in university. The two lucky winners will have the chance to hear Venus Williams speak live on March 2 at the Toronto Metro Convention Centre.

1.1 Eligibility: The contest is open to all female high school students who currently attend a high school in Ontario.

1.2 Contest Period: Starting on 11 a.m., Eastern Time, February 1, 2011 to 5:00 p.m., Eastern Time, February 18, 2011, Students may participate in the Contest by completing an online entry which talks about the importance of continuing their athletic experience at an Ontario university. Entries must be kept to a 500-word maximum and can be submitted by visiting http://www.oua.ca/student/womenofinfluence/.

1.3 Contest Entry Restrictions: Contestants are restricted to one (1) entry per person. Any excess entries will be invalid for purposes of the Contest draw. Once entries are received, entries become property of OUA and can be used as seen fit.

1.4 Awarding of Prize: Only the winning students will be contacted. The Prize will be awarded to the student whose contact information (name, email address, phone number) has been given by the entrant at time of completion of the survey.

1.5 Prize: Each prize consists of two (2) tickets to the Women of Influence Luncheon on March 2 at the Toronto Metro Convention Centre. Two (2) winners will be selected. Winners are responsible for travel to and from the Luncheon.

1.6 Odds: The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received during the applicable Contest Period.

1.7 Release of Liability: Potential winners (and in the case of minors, a parent or legal guardian) will be required to sign a Release of Liability form before being awarded a prize. The signed form will include the winner's consent to the use of their name and city of residence and photograph, without further compensation, in any publicity carried out by OUA relative to this contest.

1.8 Agreement: By entering this competition you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions and the decisions of the competition judges, which decisions shall be deemed final and binding in all matters.
