Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a field which required significant experience writing and research and a proven track record in grant writing and program development. Candidate must have exceptional written, technical and verbal communication skills, be proficient in research, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data and possess the ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve stated goals.
GRANT WRITER – Job Description
SUMMARY:
Primary responsibilities include preparation of proposals and grant applications, and performance of responsible professional and administrative work in researching, identifying, developing and responding to public (local, state and federal) and private grant opportunities in the areas of Education, Work Force Development, Leadership, and innovative Programming. Qualified candidates should possess excellent technical writing and computer skills (Microsoft Office Word and Excel), knowledge of database systems and presentation software and ability to concisely communicate goals, activities, and ideas. The candidate must be highly organized and self-motivated with the ability to create and implement systems and follow-up processes, able to effectively work under pressure, use independent judgment and produce a quality work product within tight time constraints. In addition to designing and completing applications, candidate must possess innovative and meticulous research practices to locate funding opportunities in which to apply. Previous experience will demonstrate a proven track record in securing new funding opportunities; comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish and identify funding opportunities for special programs.
Work is performed under broad direction of our President and under direct supervision of the Director of Education and Development with the majority of work performed independently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Identifies funding priorities and new program areas to match institutional interests
* Locates, researches and identifies new local, state, federal and private funding prospects.
* Maintain relationships and contacts to be alerted of funding opportunities
* Complete an analysis of funding prospects to plan proposal submission timelines
* Plan proposal goals, budget, and outcomes along with key personnel in Little Sprouts/ AEG
* Provide research documentation to support proposal goals, citing sources in MLA and/or APA format
* Generate proposals and supporting documents in response to solicitations through timely submission of well-researched, well written and well-documented fund-raising proposals.
* Maintains and implements funding calendar activities, including cultivation activities.
* Must have knowledge of the Early Education field.
* Generate revenue for Little Sprouts and other AEG schools for new programming, staffing, and innovative activities
* When funding has been secured, generate timeline of activities and responsibilities, including reporting structure
* Serves as a liaison to all funding agencies or organizations.
* Engages with program officers at organizations to solicit invitations to submit proposals.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Candidate must be open to taking time to go out to meet with committees and programs offering grants as needed.
* Some parts of the week will require many hours of sitting and working at a computer
Compensation:
Flexible schedule with focus on proposal due dates. Work at home possible. Hourly rate based on 10-30 hours/week depending on funding cycles and application due dates. Generous bonus structure contingent on funding received. If successful, potential the role will be made full-time, benefit’s eligible.
