Dr Katherine Branson Student Essay Competition 2011

Instructions for Entrants

Entries are invited from Medical Students throughout the UK on one of the following topics:

(1) “Is prostitution acceptable as a means of supporting one’s studies?” and
(2) “When is the right time for medics to have a baby?”

Essays should be:

• 600-800 words in length
• printed on A4 paper
• double-spaced
• font size 12
• numbered pages
• references should be in Vancouver style
• supply 4 copies please

A separate COVERING SHEET (x1) should state the entrant's name, mailing address, telephone number, fax and e-mail, and the name of the medical school as well as the year of study.

The entrant's name should appear on the COVERING SHEET ONLY.

Also, a statement that the essay is the entrant's own original work must be signed on this covering sheet.

Two winners will be invited to present their essay at the National Spring Meeting in North Wales on 6th May 2011, reasonable expenses will be met.

Two First Prizes of £200, two Second Prizes of £100, two Third Prizes of £50 - Winners will also receive one-year free MWF membership.

Closing date: strictly 1st April 2011. Entries must reach Central Office at the above address by this date. No responsibility will be taken for essays delayed or lost in the post.
