Vacancy: Food Editor for The Advocate (LA)

The Advocate, a major daily newspaper in Baton Rouge, LA, has an opening for a Food Editor.

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The Food Editor plans and produces weekly “Food” section. Editor plans section fronts and inside material; assigns stories, photos and graphics; works with stringers and freelance contributors, and works with other departments on regular basis. Must be able to write and edit. Must be interested in all facets of the food industry.

Required Education, Prior Work Experience & Specialized Skills and Knowledge:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field. Must be able to demonstrate ability to plan and execute a special focus news section on a regular basis. Must have knowledge of cooking and testing recipes. Must be able to communicate with the public and do food-related demonstrations. Supervisory experience a plus.

Salary is determined by experience.
