Assistant Editor Needed at Daily Candy (6 months contract, New York)

Work with the editors to develop an annual editorial programming calendar and a 6-month forward schedule of content aligned with our users' interests, our brand values and our core business goals. Ensure that the programming calendar is a creative endeavor that also optimizes our business operations.

Ensure that the programming calendar is informed by SEO as well as key editorial verticals, topics, events, trends, local vs. national interests, etc. Ensure that calendar reflects DailyCandy's cross-platform presence (meaning email, web, social media, video, external partnerships, etc). Generate story ideas for editorial calendar and special editorial packages and keep an eye on what competitive sites are publishing on a daily basis.

Track RFPs and pitch content for Sales consideration. Work with Sales to ensure that our editorial programming calendar matches what sales reps can sell. Collaborate with the Promotions Editorial team to create relevant content that benefits/serves the users and meets advertiser goals. Work with the Business Intelligence and Ad Ops departments to ensure that distribution/impression goals are met. Use Omniture to evaluate and report on the success of editorial & sponsored-content programs.

Coordinate the flow of information in-house to ensure that Editorial, Sales, Product, and Marketing departments are provided with timely advance editorial information, including launch dates, creative descriptions, specifications, distribution volumes/impressions, etc. Attend editorial pitch meetings and sales meetings.

Support DailyCandy's external partnerships, including content syndication and marketing/subscription programs. Work with the editors to produce blog posts for Yahoo Shine and other syndication partners to be determined. Acquire prizes for editorially-based marketing/subscription programs. Work with the editors and the Marketing department to produce editorial deliverables for external partners.

Assist with the research, writing, editing and promotion of content across all platforms. Identify high-performing content for promotion across all platforms.
