Scholastic is currently seeking a: Editorial Manager, Kids Channel, eScholastic
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all day-to-day operations for product
- Set and manage overall editorial calendar
- Responsible for editorial voice and all copy
- Oversee creation of original content; manage content development budget and schedules
- Source, hire, and manage freelance editorial resources and content developers such as writers, editors, bloggers, and proofreaders
- Produce final edits for all submitted materials
- Maintains copy style guide
- Responsible for writing or overseeing in-house writing of any copy not sourced to an external resource, including: site-wide messaging, copy associated with new content, articles and blog entries, marketing materials, and promotional site copy (including touts, blurbs, short-form entries)
- Direct content creation for blog, including entries centered around 3rd-party content or content from other Scholastic business units
- Copyedit all site copy including regular content refresh updates (touts, slideshows, author blurbs, etc.), new content pieces (message board signature page, widgets, etc.), and blog
- Write or manage freelance writer in creation of copy for banner ads, email marketing campaigns, and other promotional materials
- Review and provide consultation on copy for new content pieces to live in THE STACKS but being managed by other business units (Trade, SMP, Scholastic Media)
- Coordinate email marketing campaigns � consult with Email Marketing team, work with MIM on list pulls, create job ticket, manage each campaign's budget
- Coordinate banner ad campaigns � consult with Online Marketing team, create insertion order, manage each campaign's budget
- Oversee Associate Editor's management of marketing initiatives � review wireframes, designs, copy, coded pages, print materials
- Oversee Associate Editor's management of promotional refresh and project-based work review wireframes, designs, copy, coded pages
- Direct supervision of Associate Editor
Editorial Projects:
- Copyedit all blog entries
- Copyedit all site copy, including regular content refresh updates (touts, slideshows, author blurbs, etc.) and copy for new content pieces (message board signature page, etc.)
- Copyedit all original widget copy, including copy delivered by SMP
- Write or manage freelance writer in creation of copy for network ads
- Direct content creation for blog, including entries centered around 3rd-party content or content from other Scholastic business units
- Review and provide consultation on copy for new content pieces to live in THE STACKS but being managed by other business units (Trade, SMP)
Qualifications: Requirements/ Skills:
- BA in English, Communications or Journalism
- Experience in online editorial
- Experience with editorial for kids ages 7-18
- Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of basic HTML and XML a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent organizational skills
- Experience managing others is required
- Ability to manage budgets and estimate projects
- Ability to multi-task
- High attention to detail
