Job Opening: Editor - Women's Health Magazine for BCDT Associates (Washington, DC)

We are seeking a talented, energetic and innovative Digital Editor to drive the digital strategy and growth for an established health magazine that caters to an expanding multi-cultural female audience. This person will be responsible for all digital extensions, including Web sites, blogs, video, e-mail newsletters, social media and other digital products, and must have an established record building large online audiences.

This person must be a proven team player with the skills to work effectively with multiple editors and guide digital expansion for the brand (s). The successful candidate will be responsible for growing reader engagement, traffic and digital offerings. The Digital Editor will report to the Editor-in-Chief.

Responsibilities

· Works with Editor-in-Chief to repurpose or create content for Web site, blogs, e-mail, videos, newsletter, social media and other digital extensions.

· Plans and schedules regular updates todigital products and the timely delivery of e-mail newsletters. Broadens and engages audience interaction through social media.

· Creates and maintains appropriate SEO keywords.

· Maintains digital editorial calendars.

· Helps develop and test new digital products and services as needed.

· Must be culturally sensitive and have experience working with multi-cultural readers.

· Stays abreast of trends and new technology in the digital world; provide recommendations to make sure the company’s offerings are competitive, engaging and relevant.

· Prepares editorial content for content management systems.

· Makes sure Web content is timely and relevant.

· Helps develop and execute Web strategies for building brand awareness, developing new audiences, creating a database of e-mail addresses and increasing site traffic.

· Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

· Exceptionally strong editing, writing and proofreading skills, including detailed knowledge of style and grammar.

· Strong management, organizational and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work effectively under deadline pressure.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Deep knowledge of technology.

· Ability to create and host interactive content such as webinars and video tutorials.

· Working knowledge of InDesign and QuarkXpress, HTML, XML, CSS, blogging platforms and Web analytics.

· Experience as a health writer and editor desired, but not required.
