Job Opening: Editor-in-Chief for a National Women's Lifestyle Magazine (Canada)

A national magazine is seeking a dynamic, driven individual who's not afraid of a challenge to take over as Editor-in-Chief of our national publication.

What does this mean?

• You will set the tone, vision, and direction of the magazine

In this highly challenging role, you will be responsible for:

• Managing our national print publication including layout, cross checking of facts, spellings, grammar, writing style, design pages, photos etc.
• Managing the online magazine. This will include reviewing for final edits on stories, articles, audio clips and videos submitted by contributors and freelancers
• Revenue growth: conduct long range and short range planning
• Collaborating with contributors and freelancers to assign stories, working closely to refine ideas
• Ensuring a big picture approach to content, coming up with innovative editorial ideas and approaches
• Brainstorming stories and building content through writing and editing, including the development of tools for both editorial and marketing purposes
• Creating, maintaining, and enforcing calendars and schedules to meet the deadlines and ensure proper communication between departments
• Working with the programmer to maintain site, fix technical errors, monitor traffic and analyze numbers to program content accordingly
• Managing and maintaining all social media platforms
• Managing a team of contributors/freelance writers as well as overseeing all staff and editorial interns

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Minimum 3 years of web content, internet & editorial experience in a journalistic setting
• A high level of magazine and/or digital journalism production competence and experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of and passion for Women's lifestyle content
• Solid background in content management systems
• Proven success running major online/print properties with a focus on women's content
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
