Southern Rose Productions Short Story Contest

GUIDELINES

I am looking for longer stories in the 4,000 - 8,000 word range, literary stories in the horror, mystery, crime or thriller genres with contemporary settings. Violence must be dictated by plot rather than used for shock effect. No characters or plots based on copyrighted material. Stories must be original and unpublished. No simultaneous submissions considered.

FORMATTING:

Author’s name, postal address, email address and word count should be in the upper left corner of the manuscript.

Times New Roman 11pt. font

Single-spaced lines

Five-spaced paragraph indents

Do not number pages

No extra space between paragraphs

Use italics, bold text, quotation marks or underlining as necessary

Submit Word .doc or RTF files only

Email submissions only. Please include a brief cover letter stating your name, postal address, email address, title of story, word count, and credits (if any).

IMPORTANT: Please type "Contest entry: your story title" in the subject line.

You will receive confirmation that your story has been received.

DEADLINE: March 30, 2010.

Winner will be announced on the Southern Rose Productions’ Radio Show “Southern Rose Review” in April 2011.
