Arizona Women’s Theatre Company seeks scripts by American women playwrights for its 5th annual Pandora Festival.
For the first time in the history, AZWTC is accepting submissions for the Pandora Festival from women playwrights living in any of the 50 United States of America! This is a national call for unpublished full length, one-act, and/or 10-minute plays to be juried and possibly selected for staged readings at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, Scottsdale, AZ on May 20, 21& 22, 2011.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Please read carefully
Categories for submission
Full Length (75-120 minutes)
One Act (30-60 minutes)
Ten Minute (10 minutes or less)
Please note Category on Title page
One Play per Playwright
Script must be in Standard Play Format (see below for details)
Script must be bound securely in non-permanent binding system--brads, 3 ring binder, presentation folder, or other. No spiral-bound or stapled.
Your name and contact information (phone, address, email) should appear on the Title page but not within the body of the manuscript. Title page will be removed to ensure an objective reading.
Page number and Play Title should be included in the header area of each page following the Title page so if a play becomes unbound it can be easily re-assembled.
Scripts will be accepted in any professional format, such as that described in Dramatists Sourcebook or as described below:
Top, bottom, left, and right, margins set at 1–1.5 inches.
Page numbers appear within the header area of each page.
Character names indented 4 inches.
Opening stage directions indented at least 1.5 inches.
Other stage directions indented 3.5 inches.
Text is best set at 12 point in one of the following fonts: Palatino, Times New Roman, Courier New, or Arial.
Please avoid the use of italics and excessive stage directions.
The following are not considered acceptable:
Screenplays or teleplays submitted as theatrical play
Obvious first drafts
Plays with typos and spelling error
Plays not formatted according to industry standards (see above)
All manuscripts not selected will be recycled. Do not include return postage.
Note: The festival is a script in hand staged reading with minimal props and set pieces, with a different program for each of the three days. Past Pandora festivals have featured 2-3 full length plays, 2-3 one acts and 9-10 ten minute plays. Good luck!
