Writers Wanted at Parent Further.com

We are seeking freelance, online writers who are passionate about family or parenting topics to write brief articles and blog posts for our parenting website, ParentFurther.com.

Qualifications:

* Credible, passionate and knowledgeable subject matter expert
* Writes in an accessible tone: Writing expresses humor, maintains an approachable sensibility when addressing a range of topics and issues—from lighthearted to heavy.
* Ability to write engaging articles using solid writing skills (spelling, grammar, etc.)
* Maintains knowledge of timely, accurate information about family and parenting topics
* Ability to write research-based parenting articles and blog posts in an accessible format (using tips and personal anecdotes)
* Ability to produce a minimum of 10-12 brief (200-400 word) articles or blog posts a month
* Familiar with writing for web and best practices in blogging and online writing
* Expertise and experience in parenting youth of all ages, with an emphasis on ages 10-13.

Ideal candidates include: family counselors, parenting experts, book authors, pregnancy/childbirth specialists, experts in adolescent development or others who are experienced writers.

Please submit your writing sample from one of the following topics:

• What is age appropriate behavior? Provide age-appropriate ideas and activities for teens. How do parents set the bar and enforce rules for appropriate/non-appropriate behavior?

• When your kid is the bully, what do you do? Provide concrete tips and activities for parents to work with their child and the child/family of the bullied.

• Travel Tips: Taking a family trip to another country? What should you do to prepare your kids for the circumstances that they may encounter in regards to privilege, money, culture, and ideas?

• As a caring adult, how do you support your child’s friends while helping your child become a good friend?

• Your child has a friend you don’t approve of, and you want him to stop being friends with the “bad” influence but he refuses to sever friendship ties. What do you do?

• Your young teenage daughter has her first crush. What three things would you tell her?
