Call for Essays for Edited Book - Political Women: Language and Leadership

Post date: 05 June 2012
Deadline: 9 July 2012

Michele Lockhart and Kathleen Mollick seek contributors for a collection of essays considering women and leadership.

Our book is (tentatively) entitled, Political Women: Language and Leadership. The collection of essays will demonstrate the ways in which women have used political rhetoric and political discourse to provide leadership, or assert their right to leadership, at the national level.

Various leadership positions at the national level may be considered. Papers may consider women who have run, been nominated to run, or appointed to national positions. The interdisciplinary approach lends itself to: rhetoric; political rhetoric; political discourse; leadership studies; women’s studies; gender issues; satire; pop culture.

Proposals should be 200-250 words in length. Please include contact information with the proposal, including academic affiliation, if any. Please title the e-mail subject line of the proposal “Political Women” when e-mailing the attachment.

Deadline for Proposals: July 9, 2012. Notification of acceptance will be no later than August 1, 2012. The editors plan to have complete articles ready for submission to the publisher by spring 2013.
