Theatre Fairfield, the producing wing of the Theatre Program at Fairfield University, seeks Connecticut-based playwrights and directors for Theatre in the Raw: The Lucille Lortel Festival of New Plays. Theatre Fairfield will commission playwrights to write new, short plays (20-30 minutes). Plays will be workshopped and produced with acting students from Fairfield University from November 2011 to March 2012. These are paid positions.
To be considered as a playwright, send a resume, letter of interest, and (1) 20-30 minute play as a writing sample. The writing sample should include at least one but preferably more female characters. Selected playwrights will then write a new play for the festival and be involved in the workshop process.
To be considered as a director, send a resume and letter of interest highlighting any experience you have with new play development. Send materials electronically to Mariah Sage, assistant professor of theatre, msage@fairfield.edu. All materials are due August 1, 2011.
