The $1,000 Momoir Project/ Parents Canada Magazine Writing Contest

Post date: 07 May 2011
Deadline: 30 June 2011

ParentsCanada Magazine and The Momoir Project have teamed up to create a great writing contest for aspiring mom writers – just in time for Mother’s Day. When we become mothers, our relationship with our own mothers changes significantly. We would like you to explore that relationship in a story for our contest. Please note: this contest is only open to Canadians. Please see below for more details.

There’s lots of fine print to read before you launch into writing for the contest. Please take a few minutes to scroll through it all. And remember, only polished writing that is well-thought out will be considered. So take your time!

For the topic, please consider the following questions:

• How has becoming a mother changed your perspective on how you were mothered?

• How has it changed your relationship with your mother?

• How has your childhood affected your decisions on raising your own children?

• And what you have learned about generations of mothering by becoming a mother yourself?

We encourage you to explore these questions in a compelling, honest and poetic story. The grand prize winner will receive $1,000 and have their story published in ParentsCanada magazine’s October issue. Three finalists will each receive $50, as well as having their stories published online at parentscanada.com and The Momoir Project.

ParentsCanada magazine is published six times a year by Family Communications. The publication strives to give parents the tools they need to raise happy, healthy children in a friendly and informative way. Never preaching, always enlightening.
