Every Mother Has A Voice
Without a doubt, becoming a mother changes a woman in fundamental ways. Yet, more often than not, these stories are left untold. YummyMummyClub.ca in partnership with Canadian Family Magazine want to help you share your stories in our Voices of Motherhood Writing Contest.
This is the chance to tell your funny, sad, fragile, loving, happy, endearing, quirky, unbelievable or even scary stories of your journey through motherhood. Because every mummy’s trip is different.
What To Write About
You don’t have to worry about choosing a topic, we’ve done that for you. In fact, we’re giving you two topics to choose from - the rest is up to you.
1) How Motherhood Has Changed You, or
2) How You Have Changed Motherhood
Your submission must be between 600 – 650 words and related to either one of these categories.

Stand Out From The Crowd
Every story is special but if you want yours to stand out from the crowd, here’s what you need to know. Stories will judged based on:
Originality: We’re certain every mother has an undying love for her child so try writing about something outside the norm when telling your story.
Use of Language: We probably don’t need to say it but we will anyway. Check and double check your spelling and grammar before hitting the submit button.
Relevancy: We bet you have a thousand interesting tales to tell, but if it doesn’t relate to one of the two topics we've chosen, it’s not going to win.
Engagement: Last but certainly not least, our panel of judges will be looking for how well your story grabs the reader.
The Good Stuff
One grand prize story and nine runner ups will be selected by the judging panel. The grand prize story will receive $650 and have their story published in the Summer 2011 edition of Canadian Family magazine which will be on stands from June 9th to August 11th. Nine runner-up winners will each receive $50 and have their stories published at YummyMummyClub.ca
Rules and Regulations
1. The Voices of Motherhood Contest begins at 9:30 am EST on February 17, 2011 and ends on March 17, 2011 at 11:59 pm EST.
2. To enter and qualify for the Voices of Motherhood Contest , visit yummymummyclub.ca and complete the on-line submission form.
3. You must be a YummyMummyClub member to win. Click here to register. Membership is free. Confirm compliance with the contest rules by checking the appropriate box and submit your entry on-line.
4. Submissions must be between 600 – 650 words and must be related to the cited writing categories. Submissions over the allotted word count will be disqualified.
5. Submissions that are slanderous or offensive to any person or group will be disqualified. Swearing is fine where appropriate for emphasis and effect.
6. Submissions must be original, unpublished material, not under consideration elsewhere.
7. Once a submission is received, no revisions will be allowed.
8. Limit one entry per YummyMummyClub member.
9. The contest is open to all legal residents of Canada (excluding the Province of Quebec), who have reached the age of majority in their province/territory of residence, and who are members of the YummyMummyClub. Employees of YummyMummyClub, Canadian Family and their affiliates, advertising and promotional agencies, or parties engaged in the development, production and distribution of materials related to this contest, and members of their immediate families and/or persons living in the same household are not eligible to participate.
10. PRIZING:
There will be one (1) Grand Prize awarded. This prize consists of $650 CDN. They will be announced as the winner and their story will be published in the Summer 2011 edition of Canadian Family magazine, on stands from June 9, 2011 to August 11, 2011 and on YummyMummyClub.ca after August 2011.
There will be nine (9) Runner-up Prizes awarded. Each prize consists of $50 CDN. They will be announced and their story will be published on YummyMummyClub.ca between June and August 2011.
11. SELECTION PROCESS:
Winners will be selected by a panel of judges. Selected entrants will be contacted by telephone or email within thirty (30) days after Contest end date at the telephone number and/or e-mail address stipulated in the entrant's Contest entry form submission. Selected entrants must respond to the notification of having won the prize within five (5) days after being contacted or an alternate winner will be selected. In the event the contest sponsors are unable to notify a selected entrant within five (5) days of the draw, the selected entrant will be disqualified and an alternate winner will be selected from among all remaining eligible entries.
12. Selected entrants consent to the announcement of their name and the use by or on behalf of YummyMummyClub.ca and Canadian Family of their name and story.
