We are currently seeking an Online Editor of food content for Digital. The Online Editor is tasked with implementing Food Network and Cooking Channel's web strategies, including daily creation and integration of content, production and promotion. In this role you will integrate, create and migrate content from networks onto FoodNetwork.com, CookingChanneltv.com, Food.com and relevant blogs in a timely, accurate way through demonstrated interest in and understanding of food, recipes and lifestyle content. You will:
* Liaise with core teams to ensure successful placement and promotion of original and network- and magazine-provided content
* Help execute convergent content
* Work in tandem with other teams to create newsletters, content for social media and content for other platforms
* Ingest recipes, videos and photos into internal digital systems; work with kitchens to ensure accuracy and caption-write as needed
* Update content packages and pages, write and edit articles as assigned, and monitor metrics
* Help shape the vision and strategy of Scripps’ digital food properties in keeping with each property's brand identity
* Use web metrics and research to inform how to use original and curated content to attract and serve targeted digital audiences and to guide the development of relevant content
The editor represents the site and its extensions in operational meetings and projects, and as backup to editorial director as directed, with service and operational groups including but not limited to editorial, production, ad sales, ad sales marketing, consumer marketing, online marketing, press, analytics, research, creative services, programming, information technology, broadband and outside vendors. You will:
* Use high-quality content and a consistent voice to reinforce site strategies and audience data
* Support high-quality content creation that capitalizes on bridging media, including articles, videos, interviews, photo shoots, photo galleries, newsletters
* Help implement content migrations and site redesigns
The right candidate will have demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, with focus on food, recipes, and lifestyle content. You must possess knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. You must possess knowledge of primary research, writing, editing, and copy style. You must have knowledge of HTML, web content management tools, and Microsoft Office suite. Ability to use web technologies. Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work. Attention to detail is a must. BA/BS degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or other directly related area or equivalent experience and 5 years of experience as a web producer or editor at a consumer online publication or equivalent. Demonstrated culinary knowledge preferred.
