PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Produce the beauty section of the magazine: writing, editing and conceptualizing visual-based stories.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Write timely features and briefs
Edit some freelance and in-house beauty stories
Help conceptualize and attend photo shoots for the section
Attend industry events and conferences
Maintain network of industry contacts and keep up to date on global beauty trends
Lead the beauty editorial team
Attend meetings and brainstorm ideas for content
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Editorial team, Publisher, Sales team, Production
External: Industry contacts, freelance writers, photographers, makeup and hair professionals
POSITION AUTHORITY/ ACCOUNTABILITY:
This position is directly accountable to the Editor-in-chief
WORKING CONDITIONS:
May be required to work overtime
Travel may be required for industry events and conferences
Qualifications
Post secondary degree or diploma in journalism or equivalent work experience
3-5 years of writing and or editing experience, ideally at women's consumer publications
Very strong writing and proofreading skills
Excellent research skills
Experience with MS Office, InDesign, InCopy and working in a MAC environment.
Strong interpersonal skills
Be extremely organized, manage time well, and be a team player.
