Arkansas Press Women Journalism and Mass Communication Scholarship

Each spring, Arkansas Press Women seeks applications for a $1,000 scholarship to be awarded to a student seeking a career in journalism or mass communications. The scholarship winner is recognized during the APW spring awards luncheon in May or June.
Eligibility

An applicant must be entering his or her junior or senior year in an Arkansas college or university in the application year. Applicants majoring in journalism or a mass communications field are given preference. APW scholarship recipients are eligible to reapply the following year, provided they still meet eligibility requirements.

How to apply

Interested students must submit a package of materials that include:

  • a completed application form (available from the scholarship chairman),
  • one copy of his/her college transcript,
  • three letters of recommendation (one must be from a faculty member who knows the applicant's communication/journalism skills),
  • three communication/journalism writing samples, and
  • a short statement of professional goals (400 words or less).

Completed application packets should be mailed to the contest chairman no later than March 1 of the application year. For an application form or other information please contact the scholarship chairman.
