Job Opening: Senior Editor (Weight Loss) for Health Magazine (New York)

Health magazine is looking for a highly creative, detail-oriented, and experienced senior editor to oversee the magazine’s weight-loss coverage. The ideal candidate excels at generating fresh ideas, packaging diet and fitness trends and research in a reader-friendly way, and writing snappy display copy and coverlines. He/she is a strong and fast writer/editor with previous experience producing diet plans for a national consumer magazine. Also required: A talent for making weight-loss content fun and visually-compelling while still delivering top-notch service.

Job responsibilities:

• Generate a strong mix of ideas for the magazine’s front-of-book diet and fitness section, as well as diet features.
• Report and write stories on deadline, including weight-loss testimonials.
• Assign and edit pieces to freelancers and staff writers. (Extensive writer rolodex required.)
• Think visually and work closely with art department to facilitate shoots and deliver clean layouts to top editors.
• Brainstorm out-of-the-box ideas for special packages and brand extensions.
