LA Fashion Website Looking For (Telecommute) Assoc. Editor and Contributors

Post date: 15 October 2010
Popular LA fashion and shopping website is looking for new contributors and an assistant editor to pitch, research and write stories about local events and news. This IS NOT a personal style blog. Being able to write well is major. The tone is tongue in cheek, and the style is a mix of blogging and journalism.

You must live in LA (don’t worry, you won’t need to go to an office). The assistant editor position is part time, but you must be able to spend time online during the day.

You should also own a decent digital camera, and be able to work quickly. The editor is laissez faire and will give you a great deal of creative freedom, but you should be self-directed. If you have existing contacts in fashion and retail, terrific, but it’s not mandatory.

Dependability is a must.

This is a paid position, but it won’t exactly make you rich. You will get your name on the masthead, which means tons of perks and access. Not to mention a level of creative freedom and autonomy that’s pretty hard to come by.

First and foremost, we’re looking for good writers with high IQs for fashion, pop culture, and life in LA. Previous experience writing about fashion not mandatory, but it helps. We’re loosey-goosey with grammar, but you need to be fastidious about spelling and punctuation, and you should be able to proofread your own work.

Send a brief note describing your qualifications, and include links or relevant samples.
I promise, writing for the site is a lot more fun than reading our Help Wanted post!

Location: LA (telecommuting)
Telecommuting is ok.
