Theme: Playing with Fear
Writing Group for Women Only.
What are your deepest fears? Why are you afraid of them? What happens to you when you are in fearful state? How do others treat you? How does it impact your life? How do you ride over it? What helps? How can you use your mind to play with it? What can you learn from it to grow and live a more meaningful richer life?
You will be part of a group of women who are ready to break the silence and invisibility about mental disturbances in our community through exploring their fearful and disturbing thoughts and experiences and penning them down as stories, poems, proses, dialogues and monologues. If you are interested in growth through facing your fears, unique or medically labelled, and want to heal by befriending them through a mindful creative process, you are encouraged to join.
Your work will be part of a multi-media theatre production "Delicacies of Disturbances" in Fall 2012, directed & produced by Siren Theatre Project.
Your identity and the process you go through will remain confidential. You can remain anonymous if your work is included in the final production. You do not have to be a performer to join this Writing Group. We will be auditioning for cast later on.
This workshop series will be facilitated by Roke, Siren's Artistic Director and a Life Coach, who herself plays several mind games, every day. We will be using various tools; games, exercises, dialogues, to make this writing process safe, soulful and and an enjoyable experience. This effort is to break taboos and prejudices around mental illness amongst women and give voice and visibility to those who have these complex gifts.
When: 8 Wednesdays, 6:30 - 9:30 starting April 18th
Where: 900 Alice St, Oakland, CA (closest BART 12th St.).
Cost: FREE (Any donation towards the use of space and the production is appreciated)
