RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must be proficient using Microsoft Word and the Track Changes feature. Applicant is expected to have perfect spelling, strong grasp of grammar, and a sharp eye for detail. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to prioritize, adapt well, and manage time effectively. This is a high production, high-output environment.
Provide critique, content editing for character and story development, and line-by-line editing for grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors.
Assist chief editors in day-to-day processing of manuscripts through all stages of publication on a tight deadline, which may include:
- Logging and tracking manuscripts in Production Schedule.
- Cleaning out editorial and revision comments.
- Proofreading content to be posted on various websites.
- Providing administrative support to the senior editorial staff.
- Completing all projects assigned before stated deadline.
All applicants must have a four-year degree, preferably in English.
Test: Before being interviewed, applicants will take (1) a multiple-choice spelling test of 50 words frequently misspelled and (2) a multiple-choice punctuation test. Test lasts 15 minutes.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must be punctual and have reliable transportation.
