Food Writers Wanted at BigOven.com

Post date: 22 February 2012
BigOven, a leading recipe site and mobile apps company, is looking to line up one to three exceptional food writers on a freelance, as-needed basis to write informative articles for home cooks.

BigOven has over 7 million downloads of our leading mobile apps for iPhone, iPad, Android, Kindle Fire and Windows Phone, and millions of unique users each month on our website.

But we're lacking in actual written content and we need your help!

Topics include detailed kitchen glossary entries (e.g., you might write a 700-1,000 word article about cinnamon -- its uses, buying tips, storage tips, etc.), Cooking for occasions (e.g., 10 great Bastille Day ideas), a detailed guide for a particular technique (e.g., Braising), tips and techniques, or more.

We pay between $75 and $150 per article depending upon length and involvement... and more for more involved efforts like a Thanksgiving in-depth series. We pay promptly and are very flexible in work hours. We do insist that the article be entered by the contract writer (not by us) into our simple content management system, and submitted for review that way.

In addition to being deeply knowledgable and passionate about (home) cooking, the ideal candidate has a good basic understanding of HTML, hyperlinking "best practices", and a surface understanding of writing search-engine-friendly articles. While we care about search-engine friendly articles, our first priority is to create terrific, informative content for the home cook. But if it can be done in such a way to cross-reference existing articles, that's a big plus.

Please send 2-4 sample article(s) -- we're looking for those with a passion for cooking and great writing skills.

Attribution will be to BigOven; these are ghost-written articles. Thank you for your understanding!
