Swan Day Women Playwrights Celebration
March 31 and April 1 at ACT in Seattle
Call for Scripts
ATTENTION: Women Playwrights
Women playwrights living in the Puget Sound area are invited to submit short plays for possible inclusion in DramaQueen’s Swan Day celebration, to take place on Saturday, March 31st and Sunday, April 1st at ACT Theatre. The event will feature script-in-hand readings of short plays.
Support Women Artists Now (SWAN) Day is an international holiday on the last Saturday of March that celebrates women artists. By focusing attention on the work of women artists, SWAN Day helps people visualize a world in which women’s art and perspectives are fully integrated. The long-term goal is to inspire communities to find new ways to recognize and support women. For more information, visit WomenArts at http://www.womenarts.org/swan/.
Submission Guidelines. Playwright must be female, live in Puget Sound, and available to attend a rehearsal as well as the public readings. Limit one submission per playwright, 12-minutes maximum (less is fine). Standard play formatting is required, and there are no thematic requirements or limitations. Submitted scripts must have had no previous public readings or productions within King County.
Submit the script and a separate cover page via e-mail in either Word or PDF format to swanday@dramaqueen.org. Do not include any playwright information in the script itself. Include the following playwright information on the separate cover page:
- Playwright name
- Mailing address
- Home phone
- Cell phone
- E-mail address
- Title of play
- Brief play synopsis (one to two sentences)
- Character list with brief character descriptions
Scripts that fail to meet the above requirements will not be considered.
Email submissions to swanday@dramaqueen.org. Email subject line should read: Seattle Swan, “Title of Play.”
Deadline: E-mail submissions must be received no later than midnight, Sunday, March 4, 2012.
Selected playwrights will be notified Sunday, March 11, 2012.
Pass the Word. Please feel free to forward this to other women playwrights.
