The BC Society of Transition Houses Needs a Curriculum Writer (must have understanding of women's issues) - Canada

(BCSTH) is seeking a Curriculum Writer to assist curriculum development for online training. Online training is one aspect of the BCSTH training program. We will be designing and delivering two online modules in 2011.

The Curriculum Writer will have an anti-oppressive perspective and a significant understanding of violence against women issues, and has experience writing curriculum for online learning.

The Curriculum Writer will work with established learning outcomes and objectives and a significant body of existing material developed for in person trainings. The Writer may be required to research some aspects of the training and synthesize existing and new materials for online delivery.

BCSTH is a non-profit society of Transition, Second and Third Stage Housing programs, Safe House programs, Children Who Witness Abuse (CWWA) programs and other groups serving the needs of women, youth and children who experience violence. We are the only agency in British Columbia to offer training and support to service providers who deliver these programs. We also link schools with the CWWA program through our Violence Is Preventable project (VIP).

Scope of Work

1) To work with BCSTH staff to review learning objectives/outcomes and develop online training that meets learning outcomes.

• Review materials provided by BCSTH
• Identify and address gaps in material
• Write curriculum for online delivery

2) Work with BCSTH and its contractors to ensure curriculum design is learner centred and maximizes accessibility for the selected platform.

Deliverables

1. Draft training curriculum by July 30, 2011.
2. Edited Training curriculum by August 15, 2011.
3. Work with platform designer/BCSTH to move curriculum online by August 29, 2011.
4. Training deliverable by September 19, 2011.

Timeframe

June –September 2011.

Expressions

Please include a summary of writing experience, online curriculum development together with a description of your understanding of violence against women from an intersectional feminist framework.

Provide a resume with three professional references. Provide a quote on the costs associated with the EOI.

A timeline has been provided so please ensure that if you submit you are able to make this timeline as there is little flexibility.
