Actively looking for all genres. No simultaneous submissions. This means that you are not to submit a manuscript to us and another publishing house at the same time. No manuscripts will be accepted with pictures in the body of the book (picture books). Please follow the manuscript preparation shown below or the manuscript will not be accepted!
1. Query First
Send an email letter to subs@wings-press.com . The letter should contain a brief synopsis of your manuscript. Identify the genre of your manuscript in the subject line of your email. If it is a genre in which we are seeking manuscripts and meets our needs, we will send you an invitation. Do not send your manuscript without an invitation.
We do not accept submissions of manuscripts which are er0tica or about alternate life styles.
2. Invited Submission Formatting Guidelines
* File sent as an attachment in: Word 6.0 or above; Word Perfect 6.0 or above; Rich Text Format.
* Attached file name should be YOUR EXACT TITLE.
* The subject line of the email on which you attach the file should contain the genre and the title. example: SUBJECT: Mary Had A Little Lamb-Contemporary

3. Genres
A. Romance novels (Absolutely nothing over 120,000 words)
* Contemporary Romance (short-50,000 to 75,000 words)
* Contemporary Romance (long-75,000 to 120,000 words)
* Historical Romance (short-50,000 to 85,000 words) (before 1950)
* Historical Romance (long-85,000 to 120,000 words) (before 1950)
* Fantasy Romance (50,000 to 120,000 words)
* Paranormal Romance (50,000 to 120,000 words)
* Futuristic/Sci-Fi Romance (Romance must be a major part of the story; 50,000-120,000 words)
* Romantic Suspense (75,000 to 120,000 words)
* Mystery Romance (Romance must be more than 50% of the story up to 120k unless the plot can carry more
* Gothic (65,000 to 75,000)
B. Any genre with an older heroine (age 40 and above)
C. Young Adult (40,000 to 50, 000 words) - ages 12 to 17
* The protagonist in the story will be an adolescent.
* The story should be a coming-of-age story for young people.
* The subject matter and storyline will be appropriate to the age and experience of the main character.
* The story must contain the basic elements of fiction: character, plot, setting, theme and style.
* The plot can contain several major characters, but one character should emerge as the focus of the story.
* Themes will be relevant and appropriate to the problems and struggles of teenagers within their own time period, regardless of the genre.
* Language, complexity and conflict resolution must be age appropriate. Know your audience and do not insult your reader’s intelligence.
* The main characters will be young adults between the ages of 12 and 17. The story must be engaging and involve issues that YA readers can relate to.
* The main character should be leading a normal teenage lifestyle, but should have to face a serious crisis during the story. The main characters actions and decisions should be influential in the outcome of the story.
* Avoid being preachy and overly predictable. The main characters should be fundamentally good human beings. They may be unhappy or in difficult circumstances, but at heart they should be good teenagers; side characters may not be so nice.
* There should be adult role models in the story, a character the hero or heroine can turn to if they choose to.
* Profanity in the dialogue is permitted, but should not be excessive and should be appropriate to the situation. No casual use of profanity by the hero or heroine in everyday conversation.
* Smoking, drug use or alcohol abuse by the main character is discouraged, unless used to show character growth.
* Drug or alcohol use by secondary characters is acceptable, but should also show character development.
* Descriptions of violence will be kept to a minimum. No excessive on-stage violence will be accepted i.e. rape, child abuse or cruelty to animals.
* Examples of themes that may be explored in young adult novels are: peer pressure to have sex, drink, use drugs or join a gang; honesty and lawfulness; insider versus outsider; materialism and teenage social pressure.
D. Middle Reader (word count commensurate to the story. No picture books)
E. General Fictions (These will have very little or no romance, 60,000 minimum word count and absolutely nothing over 120,000 words)

4. Manuscript Preparation
PLEASE FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES OR YOUR MANUSCRIPT WILL BE PROMPTLY REJECTED.
-Cover page to include in the Upper Left Hand Corner:
* Author's Name
* Author's Address
* Author's Phone Number
* Author's Fax Number
* Author's E-Mail Address
-Cover page to include (centered vertically and horizontally):
* Title of Manuscript
* By-Line
* Genre
* Word Count
* Insert Hard Page break
-Use only one blank line-space at the top of the first page of each chapter
(extra white space is not needed in e-publishing)
-SPELL OUT THE CHAPTER NUMBER with upper and lower case on the left margin at the top of the first page of each chapter. Number chapters with One, Two, Three, etc, not with word Chapter and not with 1, 2, 3, etc. No digits!
-Use a hard page break at the end of the text on the last page of each chapter.
-Use TIMES NEW ROMAN 12
-Use Single space
-Do Not put blank lines between paragraph and use .2 first line indent on paragraph
-Do Not put blank lines between scenes but use a scene marker like ~ * ~ for scene breaks.
-EM DASHES
Do not use em dashes. Use double hyphens to indicate an interruption of dialogue or direct thought. There are no spaces on either side of the double hyphens
-ELLIPSES
Ellipses indicate the trailing off of or trailing in to speech or dialogue. Three periods with no spaces between them are used for ellipses. Example: "Well, I thought…" Mattie brushed at a stray lock of hair, "…we could go to Disney World."
-Please do NOT use HTML
-Please remove underline/underscore and change to italics
Additional Tips:
Wings ePress, Inc. does not accept or publish X-rated books, erotica, or manuscripts about alternative life styles. An author can write fairly steamy scenes, but it must be appropriate for the material. Write the kind of love scenes with which you feel comfortable and the chances are we'll be fine with it. With the greater freedom with e-novels, our word count is 50,000-120,000 words, though we will look at longer books when the story warrants the length. We are not interested in seeing manuscripts with less than 50,000 word count for any genre other than Young Adult books.
