We seek to do this in a positive and supportive atmosphere that nurtures the author, in the true spirit of a team effort, while maintaining editorial quality, and profitability.
The books we select to carry out this mission include titles on cooking, cooking for children, gardening, herbs, holistic health, health and nutrition, natural living, green topics, metaphysical, energy work, gemstones, aromatherapy, inspirational, pets, pet nutrition, and women’s issues.
We are always pleased and excited to review new proposals, which we try to process expeditiously. We offer both work-for-hire and standard royalty contracts.
If you have ideas for a book on any of the subjects in our chosen categories and if you find yourself intrigued by the philosophy expressed in our mission statement, we hope you will think of submitting a proposal to Balanced Rock Press.

Please include the following information:
A letter of introduction. A short introduction to the material you include in the proposal.
An overview. A one-paragraph description of your book idea. What is the “hook” for your book? Why is it unique? Offer a brief summary of your book, detailing your book’s subject and how it will be developed.
An outline. The outline covers your book chapter by chapter, including all major points covered in each chapter. It could be written in traditional outline form but may also be written in paragraph form. A table of contents, including a brief description of each chapter.

An author’s information sheet. This information include your writing background and qualifications and expertise regarding the subject of your book (you may also wish to include your resumé).
Marketing Information. A brief statement explaining why you think your book is needed and describing the potential readers of the book. Answer the all important question, “Who will buy this book and why?” Include facts about how we can expect to reach your identified target markets.
A list of recent books (if any) that are similar to your own, with an explanation of how yours will be different and better. Give the competition for your book by listing books published within the last three years. Include title, author, page count, retail price, publisher, and description.
Some of your thoughts about the length, general appearance, and photographic and illustrative requirements of the book.
A sample of your writing from previous books or magazines.
