The associate editor will also be responsible for editing copy for videos, optimizing posts for SEO, coming up with creative ways to optimize site traffic, and managing and honing our social media presence to build the site's community.
Responsibilities:
-Acquire, edit, publish and promote blogs and original content
-Identify breaking news stories, trends, and videos appropriate for the site.
-Manage the content calendar -- creating unique stories and packages based on cultural events and seasonal hooks.
-Implement SEO best practices on all article pages and content packages
-Maintain the site's homepage -- updating frequently with fresh content
-Optimize workflow practices to maximize efficiency of the publication of high quality, reliable content
-Promote the site through social media, including Facebook and Twitter.
-Work with Senior Editor to execute polls, slideshows and other specialized content projects
-Support needs of Senior Editor
-Manage Assistant Editor
- Cover events when appropriate for your site and write about them
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
- 3-5 years editorial experience, preferably online
- Must be a strong writer AND editor/copy editor with a unique voice.
- Must have a basic understanding of SEO and social media
- Must have a strong interest in and prior knowledge of women's lifestyle content.
- Ability to analyze traffic data and track metrics, and respond to them
- Basic understanding of HTML, Photoshop and blog publishing platforms
- Must be an organized, self-motivated and thrive in a team environment
- Endless energy and ideas for high-quality, reliable content, and exceptional drive to maximize its visibility
