Freelance Report Writers (Household Goods) Wanted at Mintel (UK)

At Mintel, we are looking to build and develop our network of freelance report writers who are available to work on a contract basis, primarily to complete market studies within UK sectors such as Furniture, Housewares, DIY/Garden and Domestic Appliances/Small Electricals.

Freelance report writers should have existing experience, gained in these sectors, in the majority of the following disciplines:

* Consumer Research - analysis of consumer buying behaviour and shopping patterns.
* Desk research - visiting local libraries, researching relevant trade and business press.
* Market analysis/report writing - interpretation of numerical data; providing insightful explanations to trends in market data.
* Identification of market drivers and constraints, together with analysis of how each factor's weighting varies between sectors and over time. (Micro analysis)
* Strategic analysis - in-depth written analysis, examining issues influencing markets at country level. (Macro analysis)
* Primary research (telephone interviewing) - canvassing industry opinion by interviewing manufacturers, retailers, trade associations, importers and other industry participants/observers.
* Competent and confident telephone manner; tenacity.
* Numerical analysis - to interpret and analyse market intelligence data being retrieved (from desk research and primary research). Ability to understand and work with numbers and attention to detail is critical.
