We are looking for an experienced Family Travel Editor for our family travel site, particularly someone who loves to travel and knows what it's like to travel with children.

Job Location: Pennington, NJ (near Princeton)

What You'll Do:
  • Write detailed, interesting and relevant feature articles on family travel for the website
  • Lead Community Forums by contributing Editorial content and commentary
  • Manage content for the home page and newsletter promotions
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with PR firms for Family Resorts and organize/spearhead reviews of those Resorts
  • Initiate/inspire communication with readership through social media (Twitter/Facebook) and industry-relevant blogs, and publicize calendar events and industry happenings
  • Develop relationships with Tourism Boards and Hotels to research and acquire photos to accompany and illustrate copy
  • Edit/Proof new content that goes live on the site and add appropriate web links
  • Stay abreast of travel deals and promotions and communicate these to site membership
  • Conduct interviews with travel industry professionals for articles
  • Conduct extensive research to enhance the quality and scope of content
  • Take responsibility for identifying and contracting other writers to contribute commentary
What We Seek:
  • 5-7 years of experience as a Web Site/Digital Editor.
  • Extensive background in developing, researching, editing, writing and posting web content.
  • Excellent command of English language, grammar, punctuation and spelling
  • Ability to write quickly, accurately and intelligently
  • Excellent story editing and conceptualizing skills
  • Knowledge of HTML, and web and graphics applications; PhotoShop experience a plus
  • Must have proven ability to work independently meet deadlines, and have a track record of exercising good judgment in the evaluation of worthwhile projects
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and methodical attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a strong personal drive for quality
  • Enjoy working independently and as a member of a collaborative web team
  • Experience supervising and leading an editorial team
  • Travel experience with kids and love of travel
  • College degree required; journalism, online media or related major preferred
