We are currently seeking one part-time, permanent, Staff Writer to send out on story assignments throughout the Lower Mainland. This is a PT, contract position. The Staff Writer will be able to set appointments/meetings/interviews on his/her own schedule so long as the timing fits with our deadlines. The Staff Writer will have the flexibility to work from our office in Coquitlam, BC or remotely. Hours for this position would likely be around 15-25 per issue, possibly more. There will be copy writing, research, interviewing and fact-checking as part of this position.
Special Families Magazine features “news, views, reviews and things to muse” all from the world of local special needs parenting. SFM is an amazing local magazine featuring special needs friendly topics for families in BC. Every page of SFM is professionally designed and includes photography, art, advertising and editorial relevant to special needs families and communities in BC. SFM is available exclusively from a select list of community partners, medical service points and educators or by paid annual subscription. Parents, extended family members, educators, medical service providers, mental health professionals, care providers, advocates and any person with an interest in social responsibility will find value on the pages of Special Families Magazine.
Special Families Magazine will bring to light the challenges and celebrations that are part of the daily lives of of those families and individuals caring for someone with special needs. Editorial emphasis will be placed on advocacy, increasing awareness and fostering positive opportunities for those special needs. The tone will be light, informational and in many cases emotional. SFM will be an eagerly anticipated read for an estimated 100,000+ BC readers and will be available worldwide as an online magazine.
