The Interweave Jewelry Group, producer of industry-leading jewelry making magazines like Lapidary Journal, Jewelry Artist and Beadwork as well as popular web-based communities at BeadingDaily.com and JewelryMakingDaily.com, is currently seeking a full-time Senior Editor. In conjunction with the editorial director and magazines editors, the Senior Editor will help conceptualize, assign, manage, and edit the digital-only emagazines and how-to DVDs produced by the jewelry group. In addition, the Senior Editor will maintain Interweave editorial standards and style as we push into the digital realm, will build relationships with potential talent and will produce notes and direct edits on video produced for DVDs and eMagazines. A successful candidate must:Ideally, candidates for this position will be video producers with a strong editorial background, or print editors with significant video production or editing experience. * Be an incredible organizer and project manager, choreographing content creation across multiple media, in multiple offices, with various talent and editors.
* Be familiar with video editing and production and able to work with our internal video studio producing video shoots and editing the footage into a finished product. Actual video editing software experience is a plus but not required. However this senior editor must be prepared to direct our in-house editors in editing for content.
* Collaborate with magazine editors on the production of digital-only eMags in their content areas. This senior editor will take on a project manager role for our digital magazines, shepherding them from conception, through editorial development, then design and development.
* Work directly with our art department to create menus and packaging for our DVDs as well as interface and content design for our eMagazines. Also, support our marketing department in creating marketing plans for our eMagazines and DVDs.
* Understand rights issues and contracts, and manage content contracts for all dvd and eMagazine products.
* Use digital tools to develop metrics around potential content areas for digital products, and identify opportunities within our markets.
* Contribute creatively to the direction of our digital and video products, pushing for excellence and maintaining a solid consumer-focus.
Requirements:
* 4 to 6 years of proven experience in an editorial environment, preferably with digital and video products
* Highly organized and detail-oriented- must adhere tightly to deadlines and employ processes to keep entire teams on deadline
* Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, managing multiple projects in a fast-moving, team-oriented environment
* Familiarity and comfort with the unfolding world of digital magazines, both in design/interface as well as content
* Experience with SEO/SMO strategies
