Summary:

Do you love all things wedding-related? Do you know your way around a content management system? Can you create inspiring content in minutes? Can you attract visitors to a website, and then keep them there? Then we want to talk to you.

Weddingbells is looking for a dynamic, experienced Online Editor with exceptional writing and organizational skills to assume a key leadership role at Canada’s leading source for bridal inspiration and planning. This candidate will work closely with the Executive Producer, Editor-in-Chief of Weddingbells magazine and the rest of the magazine editorial team to create smart, entertaining content for weddingbells.ca. The ideal candidate must be bilingual in English and French, both written and oral.

The online editor will also be responsible for social media such as Twitter and Facebook, writing a variety of engaging newsletters and ensure the site is kept current and relevant. The position also involves monitoring the suitability of site advertising and working in conjunction with the interactive account managers.

Responsibilities:

* Increase traffic, including unique visitors, page views and registered users
* Collaborate on an editorial vision for the website with Editor-in-Chief of Weddingbells magazine and the Executive Producer of Weddingbells.ca
* Create editorial lineups for the site, and also for the online pages which run in every issue of the magazine
* Generate web exclusive story ideas; write, assign and edit stories
* Write and manage all blog content, taking the lead on voice and tone suitable for Weddingbells.ca
* Arrange and manage relationships with third-party editorial contributors
* Manage all copy editing and fact-checking
* Source images, upload stories to the content management system; create slideshows and online polls
* Edit existing magazine content to be web-friendly
* Ensure all costs are kept on budget
* Generate video ideas and produce them
* Hire and manage interns

The ideal candidate will have:

* 3+ years in a senior editorial position managing one or more web sites
* Fully bilingual (English and French) - written and oral
* Strong understanding of current web trends (social media, content aggregation, etc.)
* Understanding of successful blogging strategy
* Understanding of effective search engine optimization (SEO), as it relates to content
* Ability to write concise, accurate copy to tight deadlines
* Experience with Google Analytics and the interpretation of site metrics is an asset
* Working knowledge of fundamental HTML, Photoshop and Wordpress
* A post-secondary degree in journalism or equivalent is an asset
* Strong organizational skills
* Able to identify new opportunities and make them happen
* Ability to multi-task, work with multiple teams, and work independently
* Experience in an online magazine environment is an asset
