Job Description
Editor-In-Chief for the website Women’s Voices For Change, a non-profit organization whose mission is to redefine women’s lives after 40 with news and original content about the health, insights and achievements of like-minded contributors from the worlds of medicine, science, finance, style, the arts and beyond. We are looking for an experienced self-starter, able to work independently, who believes in what we do and can take us to the next level, increasing our reach to women in our constituency. We need a one-person-band editor, who shares our passion for women’s issues, especially as they relate to women over 40.
- Edit daily posts
- Create content aimed at our readership
- Develop story ideas with contributing writers
- Manage our identity/profile at social media sites
- Recruit new writers
- Interface with Web Manager
- Manage website content
- Increase web traffic using SEO strategies
- Copy-edit
- Develop relationships with related news websites and blogs
- Work with the organization’s Editorial Committee and Board of Directors
Desired Skills and Experience
- B.A./B.S. from an accredited 4-year college or university
- Minimum 5 years experience writing and editing in an online setting
- Dexterity with social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter, etc)
- Understanding of Google Analytics, Webtrends, Comscore and other SEO-related measurements
- Ideal candidate must be able to manage multiple, ongoing projects without direct oversight or supervision
