Food Writers/ Bloggers Wanted for Village Voice Media (USA)

Post date: 09 March 2011
For many years, Village Voice Media has sought out and hired some of the best food writers in America. We have published award-winning print reviews as well as long-form stories, many of which are collected in national anthologies. In recent times, our papers have built very successful local blogs that inform and challenge their food and restaurant communities.

We continue to look for writers who can join us in this exciting and specialized field of work. Ideal candidates must:

• Possess the writing/research skills to produce stylish, provocative weekly restaurant reviews in print.

• Have strong opinions that they are prepared to broadcast and defend.

• Enjoy blogging and tweeting about food and restaurants and understand the potential of those platforms.

• Have a sophisticated knowledge of food and restaurants, either self-taught or through professional kitchen experience/education.

• Be ready and willing to relocate for an exceptional career opportunity.

Village Voice Media publishes websites and weekly newspapers in fourteen markets: Phoenix, Denver, Miami, Dallas, Houston, San Francisco, Ft. Lauderdale, St. Louis, Kansas City, New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Orange County and Minneapolis.

We have immediate fulltime positions open in Seattle and Phoenix, and we expect to be hiring in other cities in the coming year. If you are interested in being considered for such a position, send us an application. Be specific about which cities you would move to. Email your cover letter, resume, clips or a sample review to: Food-Writers@villagevoicemedia.com

All clips and writing samples must be submitted in a printable format, PDF or Word preferred.
