Hold My Hand is an idea I conceived after the Haiti earthquakes in 2010. Initially, I wanted to donate and create a non-profit organization but life kept getting in the way. After almost a year on the backburner and Haiti still in shambles, I decided that I can use my gift of writing to help Haiti. The next question was who could I help. After much reflection, prayer, and research I decided to help educational and orphan based organizations. In this way, I can use my gift of teaching and writing and serve as editor and seek authors who would like to contribute to the cause. All book proceeds go to H.E.R.O (an organization for orphans who lost their parents in the Haiti earthquake).
Hold My Hand‘s theme is based upon a time when you or someone was a source of strength and inspiration in the face of tragedy or a personal low in your life. Through non-fiction essays and poems, contributing authors will share their story with the world and in turn help an organization in Haiti, as well as its citizens. The genre of the book is inspirational/non-fiction/people. If you are interested please do the following:
- Submit non-fiction essays or poems that detail how you helped someone or vice versa through a hard time
- Give your work an appropriate title
- Include a brief biography (5-7 sentences) about you (where you live, career, hobbies, why you support the cause, and an email address or webpage)
- Email your draft to: matkins282(at)gmail.com with the subject line as: (First and Last Name)Final Draft Submission “Hold My Hand.”
- Sign a contract that ensures the work is original content from the author and the author acknowledges that monetary profit will not go to the editor(s), author, nor any of the contributing authors.
