Responsibilities
· Develop recipes for Martha Stewart Living and Martha Stewart Weddings Magazines.
· Assist in the styling of photography and television shoots
· Test recipes for flavor, accuracy and ease of use by employing the methodology and criteria designed by the editorial staff.
· Work on a high concentration of pastry/cake work for Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine
· Shopping and ordering foodstuffs and supplies as needed for testing, photography, and development while working under the guidance of the Editorial Business Manager to control costs.
· Compiling and maintaining research materials pertinent to stories, including props and Polaroid books, for future use by other MSLO businesses.
· Assisting in the maintenance and organization of all kitchens.
· Assisting in the preparation of corporate meals as needed and when logistically possible.
· Training new and temporary recipe testers in accordance with MSLO testing practices.
· Appearing on Martha Stewart Living television and radio segments as requested and with permission of employee.
Requirements
· 2-3 years culinary experience in an editorial or other media environment
· Formal culinary training in a degree program.
· Must be highly skilled and experienced in pastry and Weddings Cakes as well as fondant.
· Experience in a professional kitchen preferred, but not essential.
· Experience styling food for editorial photography shoots preferred.
· Prior recipe editing, development and testing experience in an editorial environment preferred.
· Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills.
· Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
· TV presenting skills preferred, but not essential.
