Description
Interweave has an immediate opening for an Assistant Editor for Stringing magazine. Must be able to multitask in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment; have strong organizational, writing, and editing skills; and possess a knowledge of (or desire to learn about) jewelry making.
Responsibilities include:
* Working with the managing editor and editors to track submissions and all documents requested of accepted contributors.
* Writing and compiling departments (such as technique pages, contributor’s pages, TOC, product review sections, etc.) and possibly features.
* Editing and proofreading all files; fact-checking resources for the magazine and all special interest publication.
* Administrative duties such as preparing files for galley, handling customer service correspondence, and more.
Requirements:
* BA in publishing- or subject-matter related field. Publishing Institute training desired.
* Up-to-date content and resource knowledge specific to market group.
* Writing, editing, proof-reading skills; command of Chicago Manual of Style, on-line and library research techniques.
* Understanding of magazine or book cycles.
* Strong time-management abilities.
* Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Indesign or Incopy, Access, other software as needed.
