JOB SUMMARY:

Atlanta Children’s Shelter seeks an experienced professional to join the development team as a Contract Part Time Grant Writer. The individual selected will identify, define and develop funding sources to support existing programs and the general operating budget as well as perform the development, writing and submission of grant proposals. The position is required to work 12 to 20 hours per week and the position will last 10 to 15 weeks. Position reports to the Development Director.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary responsibilities include the preparation of proposals and grant applications and performance of responsible and professional administrative work in researching, identifying developing and responding to private grant opportunities in the areas of social services, early childcare education and general support. Work is performed under the direction of the Development Director with approximately half the work performed independently.

REQUIRED:

Bachelor's degree or have worked in a related discipline with a minimum of three years related experience with a proven track record in obtaining grant funding. Candidate must have excellent verbal and communication skills, be proficient in research, and possess the ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve stated goals.

Qualified candidates should possess excellent writing and computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel), must be highly organized and able to work effectively under pressure and produce a quality work product within tight time constraints. Demonstrated success in securing new funding opportunities; comprehensive knowledge of research; and the ability to distinguish and identify viable funding opportunities.

This position requires a criminal background check.

PREFERRED:

CFRE certification; Experience with Southeast regional homeless service providers and grant makers. Knowledge and understanding of the homeless population.

SALARY:

Competitive based on experience.
