Girls at War: the Lives of Military Women
Editors: Lynn Daue and Angela Blackwood
Call for Submissions
Co-editors Lynn Daue and Angela Blackwood are seeking submissions for possible publication in an anthology by and about women serving as officers in the U.S. Armed Forces. Submissions from active duty, Reserve, retired, or separated officers from all branches will be considered.
The mission of the anthology is to explore the question of what it means to be a female leader in today’s Armed Forces. The anthology will also serve as a place to learn about both the challenges and rewards of military service. We are currently inviting previously unpublished submissions about commissioning experiences and motivation to serve.
Please send one (1) personal essay submission as a .doc attachment to submissions@girlsatwar.com. Submissions may not be longer than 2500 words. Please include your contact information, including your name, address, contact phone number, email address, title(s) of your work submitted, and an author’s biography (75 words max) in the body of your email. In the subject line, please include your name and title of submission (e.g. “Lynn – AWOL”). All submissions are due by 11:59pm EST on March 1, 2011. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
If you would like to remain anonymous or use a pen name, please note your preference at the top of your submission. All personal information will be strictly confidential and used only for contact between the editors and the contributor. If you have any questions about this project, please contact the editors, Lynn Daue and Angela Blackwood, at info@girlsatwar.com.
