Experience : 5+ Yrs Senior
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Senior Editor will help create exciting and timely content for Chatelaine's features and health sections.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, research and write timely features and briefs, and conceive larger concepts for larger packages
- Edit specific stories, from original concept through all aspects of the editing process to print-ready article
- Manage freelance submissions and bring new voices to the magazine's pages
- Assign articles to freelance writers and contributors, and ensure they meet Chatelaine's high editorial standards
- Work with the Art Director on layouts
- Attend industry events and conferences
- Maintain network of industry contacts and keep up to date on trends and issues
- Attend editorial meetings and brainstorm ideas for content
- Write online content and assist with special projects as required
- Handle invoicing and administrative duties as required
Qualifications
- Post secondary degree or diploma in journalism or equivalent work experience
- 3-5 years of editing/writing experience
- Strong writing and proofreading skills
- Excellent research skills
- Familiarity with MS Office, and experience in a MAC environment
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage time well in a multi-deadline environment
- Knowledge of health and beauty trends
