Description

The School Education Group, the leading provider of print and digital educational materials for Grades PreK-12, has two openings for an Editor for the Family & Consumer Sciences product line to work on a contractual basis. These positions are part of the ACCR (Applied, College, and Career Readiness) Learning Solutions Center in Columbus, OH.

Responsibilities:

* Assist in the planning and development of instructional materials, such as student resources, teacher resources, workbooks, and other print and digital program materials.
* Develop, review, and edit manuscript and other materials for content, accuracy, reading level, grammar, style, and length.
* Identify problem areas in content and recommend solutions.
* Assist in the development of project schedules, and maintain and meet all intermediate and final schedules; inform project editor or editorial manager of project management issues and recommend solutions.
* Coordinate and oversee the work of outside freelancers or vendors.
* Work closely with editorial, marketing, production, design, and manufacturing to ensure that market requirements, project schedules, and goals are met.
* Must be detail oriented and be able to prioritize and complete a variety of responsibilities in a timely manner.
* Communicate with fellow team members about project progress, and develop solutions to address issues.
* Work as a team player to meet all intermediate and final schedules.

Qualifications

Required:

* Bachelor's degree.
* A minimum of three years of editorial experience.
* A minimum of two years of publishing experience.
* Ability to demonstrate outstanding communication skills which include a thorough command of the English language, spelling, writing and grammar.
* Organizational, time management, and project management proficiencies are a must.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required.
* Ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

* Classroom teaching experience.
* Educational publishing experience.
