Job Opening: Assistant Professor of English and Women and Gender Studies for Eastern Kentucky University

Eastern Kentucky University seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member to teach core and special-topics courses in both the Department of English and the Women and Gender Studies Program. The teaching load will be divided between the Department of English and Theatre and the Women and Gender Studies Program with a total teaching load of four courses per term. The faculty member is expected to engage in service and scholarship and to contribute to the development of both academic units. Applicants must demonstrate strong teaching interests relating to the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, and culture and must demonstrate a willingness to teach online. We are especially interested in candidates who can engage students, develop student leadership and provide mentoring and activism opportunities. The position will start 8/15/2011.

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

PhD in an area related to the two interdisciplinary programs of the teaching assignment. The degree must be earned from a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution.
Minimum Experience Qualifications: An ability to teach both General Education and upper-level English classes is required.

Desired Qualifications:

Expertise in teaching in a interdisciplinary program with specific expertise in masculinity theory preferred.
