Gilt is looking for a seasoned Editorial Director who will envision, develop and launch the online editorial strategy for Gilt’s gourmet food business. Not only will s/he define the voice, tone and content that engages the luxury “foodie” consumer, but s/he will also partner closely with the General Manager, User Experience Design and Marketing to ensure that content is driving customer acquisition, member conversion, and revenue growth. This unique role positions the Editorial Director as a true business partner by providing the opportunity to demonstrate the effectiveness of engaging programming through the analysis of real-time ecommerce metrics.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of editorial leadership in the gourmet/food industry, including experience in developing long-term, strategic and results-focused editorial programming across channels (online, video, television, print). S/he will be entrepreneurial by nature, with a flexible and team-oriented approach. A passion for gourmet food, cooking and entertaining is a must, along with a strong network of industry contacts ranging from vendors to creative talent.
Responsibilities
• Define, develop and evangelize the Gourmet Food editorial voice, tone and point of view; ensure that all editorial content is well written and accurate
• Build, lead and manage the Gourmet Food editorial team to be recognized as a leading voice in the category
• Envision and produce several regular content franchises covering a variety of gourmet topics
• Develop an ever-evolving library of engaging how-to content -- both text and video -- to help drive traffic and increase engagement and interaction among users
• Collaborate with Marketing and PR to develop new opportunities for increased awareness in broadcast, print and online; leverage relationships in the food blogosphere a media industry to maximize category exposure
• Serve as the face of Gilt at industry events
Qualifications
• 10+ years of multi-channel editorial programming experience, and a strong portfolio of work in the gourmet market
• Experience with generating dynamic web content
• Demonstrated success as a manager of teams, writers and producers with the ability to influence others
• Exceptional writing and communication skills with a strong eye for design
• Executive-level presentation skills
• Sound business judgment and an analytical perspective
• Strong bias for action and ability to prioritize in a fast-changing environment
• Ability to travel up to 25%
