Job Status: Full-time

Description:

Luckie Strategic Public Relations, the 5th ranked advertising agency-owned PR operation in the U.S., according to the 2010 O’Dwyer’s Directory of PR Firms, is looking for a former journalist turned PR pro who has a track record of pitching and generating high-profile national and local media coverage for national consumer brands.

We’re one of the top home and garden and food PR operations in the U.S. We do national brand PR for Bayer Advanced and Bayer Advanced Natria lawn and garden brands, Kirkland’s home décor, JAWS home cleaning products and Little Debbie snacks, among others.

We need a storyteller who thinks strategically, can create journalistically compelling storylines that feature our clients’ products, and can land high-profile earned media coverage on TV and radio, as well as in daily and weekly newspapers, mom, home décor, gardening and “green” blogs.

You’ll work with our clients’ garden experts, interior designers, marketing directors, brand managers, scientists, CEOs, our Luckie PR team, as well as many others in this 122-person advertising, PR, digital and social media agency.

You’ll get to work on cool events like the Rose Parade. You’ll get to educate consumers on how to save money and create beautiful lawns and gardens. You’ll help consumers understand how to decorate their homes on a budget. You’ll teach consumers how to save money and help the planet while cleaning their homes. You’ll also get to show consumers how to have a little fun by doing PR for some exciting national promotions.

Interested? OK, here are a few small requirements that we have:

• Professional journalism experience at a Top 50 market news website, newspaper, local TV station or lifestyle magazine. • High standards of ethics and excellence. • Outstanding communications skills. • The ability to research and uncover nuggets of news that take advantage of key trends and create the journalistic reason why reporters, bloggers, consumers and others should even talk about our clients’ products. • Exceptional writing skills combined with the ability to tell a story in a clear and compelling way. It helps if the AP Stylebook is already burned into your brain and you’re a big fan of Robert McKee. You’ll be given a writing test.

• Strong presentation skills and the ability to provide credible PR counsel to clients. • Top-notch computer, video and digital skills. It helps if you already create compelling PowerPoint or Keynote presentations and that you’ve uploaded YouTube videos for business reasons as opposed to shaky shots of your sleepy kitten. • You understand the business reasons for using Facebook and Twitter as opposed using social media to post embarrassing photos of yourself. • You demonstrate personal responsibility, take the initiative to learn new things, and have the work ethic that means you generate better results each day. • A team player that can work well with others. • A strong dose of common sense and an understanding of how business, media and consumer campaigns work. • Three to five years’ experience working with TV and radio morning show producers, mom bloggers, as well as cranky and cynical reporters and editors. • Willingness to travel across the country 25-35 percent of the time. • If you have all those basics and actually have experience with national consumer lifestyle brands in the home furnishings, gardening, food and retail categories, we really want to talk to you, fast.

Do you have what it takes? Check out Luckie.com. Then, send both of us your resume and samples of the stories you’ve generated. Include a compelling cover letter that shows us why we should stop what we’re doing and call you to schedule an interview.
