Job Description

Simon & Schuster Children's division is seeking an Editorial Assistant to support the Atheneum imprint. This position will handle full range of administrative and supportive editorial functions (reading submissions, preparing editorial and sales copy, sending out reviews, maintaining author contacts, providing editorial back up on upwards of 20 titles a year etc.) and will report directly to executive editor at Atheneum, who edits key S&S authors including Ian Falconer and Judith Viorst.

The ideal candidate will also provide in house support for the editorial consultant working with Ellen Hopkins and Karma Wilson for McElderry. Additional responsibilities include: managing general administrative duties for the Atheneum imprints from serving as the in-house contact on backlist titles; maintaining the imprint pages on the .biz site, etc.

Required Skills/Experience

* Interest in Children’s books is essential.

* Candidate needs to have exceptional organizational skills, be able to multi-task, meet deadlines, manage schedules.

* Strong communication skills

* Critical thinking, a love of books, and very strong writing skills are important.

* Proficient with Microsoft Word, Office a plus.

* College degree

Preferred Skills/Experience

Minimum Education Level Bachelor's Degree
Major English
