Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Fashion & Cultural Theory

£29,853 - £45,155 pro rata per annum dependant on qualifications and experience

The School of Writing and Communications is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer specialising in the academic understanding of fashion and culture with a focus on media.
The successful candidate will primarily teach on the School’s largest degree, BA (Hons) Writing Fashion & Culture which involves the study of fashion journalism, fashion theory and cultural studies. Teaching may be expected on its sister degrees relating to other contexts of journalism.
Ideally, you will have an appropriate background in theoretical teaching as well as experience of the fashion industry or print/web publishing. You will have conducted research into an area relevant to the degree (details of which can be found on the Solent University website) and will be able to apply your theoretical discussions to the practical aspects of the course. An appreciation of historical perspectives combined with an understanding of developments within industry is expected.
