Seeking Editor for Online Women's Publication

We are seeking an talented editor to join our digital publication that targets busy, sophisticated women nationwide. Our venture is young but growing quickly and will benefit from the guidance of an experienced women's lifestyle editor who has a strong viewpoint about what women 40+ want from a digital publication.

The editor will help us to hone our tone and scope of coverage, will bring a world of editorial ideas to the position as well as an ability to write smart, original pieces that speak to our current audience while also helping us to grow our readership. The ideal candidate will be an experienced writer and editor who has his/her finger on the pulse of the ideas, trends and topics that will interest our 40+ target in the areas of fashion, culture, style, wellness, home, entertaining, charity and other lifestyle subjects.

Our publication covers not only the brand-establishments and businesses appearing; we also seek out tried-and-true establishments that may be operating under the radar. We never write from press releases or paid pitches. We research online and offline to find original concepts and do real reporting before we cover. The editor must have significant experience in women's lifestyle. And of course, the editor must be a great writer, a person of great personal style, an adventurous thinker, a kind-hearted person and a generally good-humored citizen of the world.

Responsibilities:

* Produce one 200-word article each day about a single show-stopping idea or recommendation

* Represent the publication as a member of the editorial team. Evangelize our brand by telling everyone and anyone who will listen about our polished publication.

* Manage a network of contacts, publicists, freelancers,and tipsters to feed you great content ideas. Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree required. Liberal Arts or journalism background preferred.

* 5+ years work experience in women's media required. Current freelancers may apply but must have editorial experience for consideration.

* Ability to produce a serious work product without taking yourself too seriously.

* A high degree of professionalism and an ability to manage are required; expert multi-tasking and organizational skills are expected.

* Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. * Ability to motivate yourself and others

* Obsessive attention to punctuation and accuracy of facts, names, times, addresses, etc.

* Impervious to writer's block. Doesn't make excuses. Loves women's lifestyle.

Location: Manhattan, New York

Employment Status: Full Time professional position requiring 8+ hours of your dedication per day. Part-time, on-the-side or in-your-spare-time are not options.

Compensation: Based on experience and on-going performance.
