Crafts/ Home Blogger Needed by Dudley and Tyler

Post date: 05 November 2010
We are on the hunt for a blogger who likes to work from home and enjoys writing about arts and crafts.

The ideal candidate would be a freelance writer who can regularly contribute to Dudley & Tyler’s blog. Our goal is to promote and support the arts and crafts community via interviews, features and intuitive how-to tutorials.

The idea behind our blog is to talk about all the interesting, entertaining or bizarre ways that arts and crafts intersect life. This is not a collection of boring “this is what I had for lunch” articles. We want our posts to have mass appeal to people who may be looking for a new hobby, expand their knowledge on a current interest or find that new gadget that will make their life easier!

Dudley & Tyler blog does not endorse brands, we discuss them: raising questions, inviting honesty and transparent conversation from brand owners. Blog posts should be informative, creative, and bring something more to the table the “boiler plate” posts found on other crafting websites.

You are someone who:

- Can consistently contribute 15+ blog posts per month.
- Can write blog posts from ideas that come from the editor and/or come up with your own blog post ideas.

- Is a solid internet researcher.

- Is an information and news junkie who knows what's going on in the crafting world and what issues and interests are hot.

- Is timely with submissions for posting.

BLOG REQUIREMENTS:

Produce a minimum of 15 blog posts per month (minimum of 300 words per post for standard articles, 400 for product reviews).

Every blog post should :

- Be witty and have a creative writing style.
- Be interesting, entertaining and insightful.

- Be written at a level anyone can understand.

- Be punchy enough to accommodate short attention spans.

- Be unique and add value (not just a rehash the news already reported elsewhere).

- Have lots of viral potential.

- Always have a catchy title.

- Provide articles that, if possible, use or talk about a product that is sold from our e-commerce site(s)
- Have a connection to the arts and crafts community, even if it's an thin or indirect connection
- Be well-researched with plenty of links back to reputable online sources.

PAYMENT

Compensation is negotiable and should be submitted with application.

Bonuses are available and measured by increase in number of unique visits and pageviews.

This is for a contract period of 3 months and subject to extension depending on performance.
